Villa Beretta Rehabilitation Research Innovation Institute is a research and innovation institute dedicated to Rehabilitation Medicine, which works alongside and in perfect synergy with Centro di Riabilitazione Villa Beretta in Costa Masnaga, a facility of the Ospedale Valduce in Como. The research and innovation activity is inscribed in the scientific framework of Network and Systems Medicine: medicine of the complexity that sees medicine, biology, neuropsychology, psychology, nutritional science, bio-engineering, and social and humanistic sciences combined and coordinated in an interdisciplinary manner within an overall vision of interconnected biological and social systems that determine Human Functioning….
ABOUT US
Villa Beretta was built in 1946 as a small general hospital originating from the Ospedale Valduce of Como, run by the Congregazione delle Suore Infermiere dell’Addolorata. In 1959, it was converted into a Rehabilitation Centre for people affected by poliomyelitis. In the seventies and eighties, it had to handle the emergency associated with the care of disabilities caused by traumatic or vascular injuries, as well as by genetic disorders of the nervous system. Bench to patient, from research and innovation work to the patient. Thanks to the structural and operational synergy with the Villa Beretta Rehabilitation Centre, the best medical-rehabilitative care tools and programs are promptly made available to patients. For this reason, we engage in scientific research every day in collaboration with our national and international partners from the world of universities, industry and startups. The fields of research vary from the experimentation of new biorobotic and digital technologies to the development of rehabilitation devices through the use of serious games, from the analysis of the intestinal microbiota to the study of support tools for the daily life of people with disabilities, to telerehabilitation.
