Villa Beretta Rehabilitation Research Innovation Institute (VBRRII) is a research and innovation institute focused on Rehabilitation Medicine. The institute operates in seamless structural and operational synergy with Villa Beretta Rehabilitation Center. The primary goal of the institute’s research activities is to develop clinical treatments aimed at restoring human functioning after disabilities caused by injuries and diseases affecting the Central Nervous System (CNS).

An innovative approach

The research and clinical activities are designed using an innovative interdisciplinary and biotechnological approach. In fact, all these activities are embedded within and materialize through the scientific framework of Network and Systems Medicine. This field, recognized for its complexity, integrates various disciplines, including medicine, biology, neuropsychology, nutritional science, bioengineering, social sciences, and the humanities in Rehabilitation Medicine.

Promoting Neuroplasticity

Neuroplasticity refers to the ability of the Central Nervous System (CNS) to modify its connections and behaviors in response to new information, sensory input, developmental changes, or dysfunction.

To leverage neuroplasticity, promote recovery, and enhance functionality, we study and test advanced and innovative technologies in clinical settings. At the forefront of these technologies are robotics, particularly collaborative robots, commonly referred to as cobots.
