June 6, 2025 – This week, Casa Bianconi was inaugurated, marking the completion of a fully renovated building that will enhance our research institute with new spaces.
- Within the complex, there is an area dedicated to fostering interpersonal relationships, where patients can engage in conversations with psychologists, neuropsychologists, and neuropsychiatrists in a warm and inviting environment.
- On the upper floor, you will find the new telemedicine room, named in honor of Dr. Angelo Porta, as well as the headquarters for bioengineering. However, it is the top floor that serves as the heart of this project, featuring a digital library dedicated to the memory of Eugenio Dal Buono, a medical student and patient of our rehabilitation center who tragically passed away in 2020 at the young age of 25.
- “This library is a place dedicated to knowledge and thought” said Dr. Franco Molteni. “It’s a place that reminds us of the Benedictine monasteries, which were true treasure troves of knowledge. Here, not only will scientific journals from around the world find a home, but also an artificial intelligence system designed to assist staff in conducting research and promoting innovation”.
- “It’s a small space, but it holds the potential to achieve remarkable outcomes: here, translational research will be conducted, bringing advancements directly to patients’ bedsides” said Dr. Mariella Enoc, special prosecutor of Valduce Hospital. “This facility is dedicated to young people, and the most inspiring aspect is witnessing so many young individuals gathered here today to honor Eugenio”.
- Surrounded by Eugenio’s friends, Mrs. Antonella Dal Buono spoke on behalf of the family: “My son faced many challenges in life, yet he chose to embrace each moment with joy, whether in his studies or in his relationships with friends. I hope his memory will not be defined solely by melancholy, pain, and regret, but rather serve as an inspiring example for all of us”.
- The day concluded with a speech by Sister Emanuela, General Mother of the Congregation of the Nurses of the Sorrowful Mother. “Our charism is to offer the poor and the suffering what we have: our hearts, our intellect, and our resources; everything must be made available to science, without which we could not care for the sick in their entirety—both body and soul—as our founder, Blessed Mother Giovannina Franchi, taught us”.
