Technology, Connectivity, and Data at the Service of the Future of Rehabilitation Medicine

On January 12, 2026, the Villa Beretta Rehabilitation Research Innovation Institute (VBRRII) welcomed the Undersecretary of State with responsibility for Technological Innovation, Alessio Butti, on the occasion of the final phase of installation of the new Distributed Antenna System (DAS) implemented by INWIT.

“Connectivity is an integral part of the healthcare infrastructure,” Undersecretary Butti emphasized, highlighting the value of digital networks as a key factor for healthcare innovation and public trust.

The new infrastructure ensures stable, high-performance, multi-operator mobile coverage, currently in 4G, throughout the research institute and rehabilitation hospital, creating the enabling conditions for a healthcare system that is increasingly connected, predictive, and personalized.

Thanks to the integration of advanced connectivity, wearable sensing technologies, and artificial intelligence, our Institute strengthens its role as a hub for advanced clinical experimentation: from the collection and analysis of exposome and lifestyle data, to the development of predictive models, clinical trials with innovative technologies, and Digital Twins, always with a strong focus on cybersecurity and data protection.

As recalled by Dr. Franco Molteni, Scientific Director of VBRRII, this new infrastructure represents a concrete step toward the humanization of care, enabling intelligent and secure data management to support the development of increasingly effective and personalized rehabilitation pathways.

This important moment of dialogue and exchange also featured Mario Nobile, Director General of the Agency for Digital Italy (AgID), Mario Racchetti from the Scai Consortium, Massimo Chiriatti, Chief Technical & Innovation Officer of Lenovo Italy, and Michelangelo Suigo, Director of External Relations, Communication and Sustainability at INWIT. Thanks to the contribution of institutions, industry, and research, we are jointly building the future of digital healthcare.
