Exerkines are bioactive molecules released during exercise that mediate its protective effects, from regulating metabolism and reducing inflammation to supporting tissue repair and cognition. Once considered mainly muscle-derived, they are now known to include hepatokines, adipokines, osteokines, neurokines, hormones, microRNAs, and extracellular vesicles, produced and influenced by multiple organ systems. In this new webinar, part of the Abductive Reasoning Lectures by VBRRII, Lucio Tremolizzo, Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Milano-Bicocca, will explore how exerkines may serve as surrogate markers of therapeutic efficacy. The session will be led by our Scientific Director, Dr. Franco Molteni.
