This new episode of the Abductive Reasoning Lectures by VBRRII offers an epistemological interpretation of social robots—understood, schematically, as new types of robots capable of communicating with us through our social signals. The perspective adopted is systemic and relational, grounded in the philosophy of science and technology and the epistemology of complex systems. Starting from a non-essentialist definition of robotic sociality, Professor Luisa Damiano, a Full Professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science at IULM University, briefly examines the cognitive, technoscientific, social, and ethical implications of the growing presence of social robots in our everyday environments, with a specific focus on rehabilitation medicine. The presentation will be followed by the customary Q&A session led by our Scientific Director, Dr. Franco Molteni, focusing specifically on the integration of social robotics in Rehabilitation Medicine.
