Skilled Hand Manipulation: From Sensorimotor Control to Neural Mechanisms – Watch the webinar

The sensorimotor function of the hand can be described as a multidimensional space in which mechanical, neural, and cognitive factors interact to enable a rich repertoire of actions. Among these, skilled object manipulation plays a fundamental role in both motor development and activities of daily living.

During his presentation, Professor Santello will share insights gained through his research on skilled manipulation—which integrates biomechanical, behavioral, neuromodulation, neuroimaging, and robotic approaches—using it as a model to understand sensorimotor control and its underlying neural mechanisms.

He will conclude his presentation by providing an overview of perspectives for future research, both basic and translational.

Following Professor Santello’s presentation, the webinar will continue with a lively Q&A with Dr. Franco Molteni, Scientific Director of VBRRII.
